Counsellor / Therapist
The Employee Assistance Programme of the Cayman Islands is a non-profit organization serving the Cayman Islands since 1993 and administered by a volunteer board of directors. Corporate membership includes counselling and training workshops within the private sector and government.
Education
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited university.
Knowledge
- A working knowledge of contemporary mental health care procedures, principles and methods
- Both theoretical and practical knowledge of the practice of individual, couples, and family counselling.
Experience
- Mature individual with at least 7-10 years clinical experience across a wide range of presenting issues and professional settings.
- Clinical experience with trauma informed care, processing grief, trauma, anxiety, depression and substance use issues.
- Culturally sensitive and experienced working within a culturally diverse community.
Licensing Qualifications
- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Cayman Islands Council for Professionals Allied with Medicine (CPAM)
Skills and Characteristics
- Provide individual, couples, and adult family counselling and develop treatment goals.
- Document appropriate clinical information as per organisational policies.
- Establish/maintain good working relationships with representatives of EAP member-companies and community stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of professional ethics including policy adherence and limits of confidentiality.
- Actively participates in peer supervision, staff development and in-service programs.
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating qualities of service excellence through appropriate boundaries, positive attitudes and behaviours.
- Willingness to work as part of a positive team and promote a culture of inclusion and participation and demonstrate initiative to work independently.
- Shall have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be flexible as schedule varies and may involve evenings.
